Professional Biography

Mrs. Sara Kessler - Kennon is in her tenth year as the dance educator at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School (NHAMS)  in New London, Connecticut. She holds a BA in Dance from Dean College and her teaching credentials from Central Connecticut State University. She holds her master’s in dance education from the University of Northern Colorado. 

Sara has experience working with students of many levels and abilities in settings that include private dance studios and public schools. Within a 13-year tenure at a private dance studio, she elevated and cultivated a ballet program that encouraged students to earnestly and thoughtfully approach their ballet education. Producing ballet productions that offered both students and audiences ballet education was an immense highlight.

Sara is motivated by her current students. These students deserve a high-caliber dance education no matter their socio-economic status and she strives to present that in her school dance program. She attempts to be a supportive and collaborative colleague who produces all concerts at NHAMS and also choreographed the annual fourth and fifth-grade musical for 8 years and now holds the title of Stage Manager. 

Outside of her professional career, you can find Sara with her husband Rob, cat Kosmos, and parents Lisa and Tom.
